The first 10 minutes of this film are raw, hardcore combat. Then it turns into a bad love story for a while and then almost makes it back to being really entertaining but, them first 10 minutes are well worth the watch. I managed to get a copy off of TCM many years ago on VHS and transferred it to DVD. Many other less entertaining movies have made it to DVD, I couldn't tell ya why this one hasn't.

shareGreat opening scene, that first ten minutes. Operating a browning m1917 required a three man team with interchanging barrels. His use of the weapon alone was very realistic. When it overheats he grabs a what I think is a Browning Automatic Weapon (BAR) before returning to the heavy machine gun once it has cooled. Pardon me for being a techno-geek but this was a real depiction of use of the weapons available at the time.
