There's supposed to be a making of featurette, but I'm not expecting much. I wish they'd gotten Polanski to do a feature length commentary. What I'm really looking forward to is the 16X9 anamorphic transfer. I have a 38" 16X9 digital TV and I can't wait to watch this movie in its widescreen Panavision splendore. The transfer should look great. Only one week away from its release here in the US.

The dvd will be out in germany around the end of october,
they chose a handscribbled sketch for a cover, i don't know what
to think of that. extras will include, as the ad says, some
unspecified 'documentation' (maybe some kind of making of'?),interviews
(with whoever, hopefully not about the musical also directed ba polanski...),
the original us-thatrical trailer and also the transfered version.
i'll get it anyway! also thanks for responding!!!!

For minc-1, the "scribbled" cover art on the DVD that you mentioned is actually original artwork that was created and used for the film's initial theatrical release in some areas. It has been reproduced, over the years, in various books on vampire movies. Like the animated opening, some fans like it, some hate it. (Having only seen the film with animation, I'm curious to see the new DVD and compare it with my MGM VHS copy.)

hey bob, thanks, i didn't know about the artwork thing...
the original poster artwork supporting the movie on its release in germany
was a drawing also, look it up here, if interested:

http://www.filmposter-archiv.de/html/anzeige_gr.php3?id=2512
anyway, when i found the ad for the coming-up-soon release of the dvd
the cover was so small it really looked like scribble...funny thing is,
now they sell it with a screenshot cover showing count von krolok
making a funny face...nevermind...

i am one of those fans who looove the animated opening, what do you mean by
"curious to see the new DVD and compare it with my MGM VHS" - sounds like you're not sure the animation is in it, maybe i do get you wrong, but i couldn't imagine the title sequence being changed at all....???

ok, have fun taking a look at the german posters, can't help myself,
i love old movie posters, but there's something strange about these though...
looks like something...i don't know...reminds be of bavarian oktoberfest beer tent atmosphere, lord knows how come...?
