I only saw part of this movie once on TV. A young man looks thru a keyhole & sees an older man spanking a young lady. I assume it was a father spanking his daughter. Does anyone out there have any details about the scene? Who are those characters? Why is she being spanked? Thank you for sharing any input you can.

She was being spanked for taking a bath. Her father, Shagal the innkeeper(Alfie Bass), forbad her to take a bath. I assume he forbad her to take a bath because he feared exactly that which ultimately happened to her when Count von Krolock came in through the skylight in the bathroom and bit her.
