Anybody a fan of this movie?

I was expecting that there might be some messages about this movie. I guess not. So is anyone here a fan of this movie? I recently saw it again after many years. I love it. Raquel is so gorgeous. I'll wait and see if there is any feedback before I talk much more about the movie. Oh yeah. I did a blog post about this movie at my MS page. I posted one of the trailers for the movie. It's pretty cool. Check it out. If you are on MS, feel free to leave a blog comment.

Yeah I enjoyed this for what it was--one of those silly spy-spoof type movies. And youre right about Raquel, one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in my entire life--and I wasnt even alive when she was in her prime. Shes just a classic beauty! I made another post about this movie and her, too, if you wanna check it out.

That's cool to meet another fan of this movie. Yeah, it's not some Oscar caliber movie, but it's good for what it is. It was one of the best of the spy spoofs that were popular in the 60's. Raquel was such a knockout in the movie and a lot of others as well. What a great idea to have her go around in that bikini so much of the movie. I'll check out your other post.

Honestly, I think "Fathom" represents one of many wasted opportunities to utilize Raquel Welch at her full potential. To me, the Raquel of "One Million Years BC" always suggested someone who had the capability to be totally independent and resourceful and sexy all in one package, and to me "Fathom" squanders things by making her too gullible and too easily manipulated. I would have much preferred to see Raquel show a lot more intelligence and not have to be bailed out by Tony Franciosa (why does this doofus get top billing??) at so many junctures. Raquel has always exuded a presence that would make her believable if she'd been a little more kick-ass independent (and in "Kansas City Bomber" she got to show that) and not afraid in a tight spot, but it always seems like filmmakers were afraid to use her that way.

Raquel's bikini scene is the best part of the film, but not just beacuse she spends 20 minutes in a bikini, but because she comes off as being in command so easily. The moment where she charms Clive Revill and then deftly tosses away her earring with the explosive down the vent is the best moment in the film and if all her scenes had exuded that confident aura of command, this would have been a much better film.

I just finished watching it onn FOX movie channel. It was great. Why can't more movies be good, action camp? :)

I'm a huge fan! Raquel has never looked more gorgeous than in this movie! The dialogue is snappy and witty and the film doesn't take itself too seriously. Just great campy fun!

I liked this one. Raquel was stunning. The plot was silly with some serious HOLES! For example: Why does Raquel need to parachute into Merriweather's compound when she was able to escape from it simply by running through an open gate? Why was the expert spearfisherman such a horribly bad shot? He must have shot smaller fish than Raquel!

Still it is a typical 60's farce. Not even a great one at that.

The overly wisecracking, sometimes verbose dialog only served to emphasize Raquel's lack of acting ability. Her delivery could make Einstein's theory sound retarded!

The big discovery of this movie for me was Tom Adams (the hotel innkeeper/bad spearfisher). That guy held his own with Raquel! What a HUNK! That guy should have played Bond! He would have been perfect!

This is a fun movie to play in the background of a party with the sound off. The plot can be easily deciphered without sound. Makes for easier oggling on Raquel!

I can appreciate this movie for what it is -- a spy spoof that doesn't take itself seriously for a minute, and a vehicle for Raquel Welch's gorgeous body. Oh, and the title theme by John Dankworth is pretty.

All the universe . . . or nothingness. Which shall it be, Passworthy? Which shall it be?

I remember watching this movie with my family when I was about 10 and my family was ripping on it about how silly it was, but I was going nuts over Raquel welsh. they wanted to change the channel but I was like 'no way' (this was about 40 years ago and we only had one tv in the house and no computers so back in the caveman days the entiry family would all watch one tv channel and that was it... kinda long gone days but kinda fun)

You can count me in as a fan of this amusing and lightweight spy spoof. Welch was both charming and delicious in the lead. Moreover, Clive Revill was a total hoot as eccentric villainous millionaire Serapkin.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!
