Did Fantoma release Fando y Lis twice, once in 1999 and then in 2001? I've been hearing that the Anchor Bay/Tartan releases are subpar, and then I found the presumably OOP Fantoma DVD on the Amazon Marketplace with two matches- the '1999' version is selling at less than $20 but the 2001 is calling at nearly $80...
shareyes they did. the 'original' fantoma edition had a cover similar to the 2001 version, though the 2001 version had a silver/metallic embossed cover. i am not sure if the movie was withdrawn, but it was one of the first dvds i owned around 2000. mine is a promotional copy or possibly a cutout, as when i purchased it new it had a hole punched through the barcode. i worked in retail in 2001 and when it was reissued i was able to see the updated cover for comparison.
aside from the covers the discs are probably exact, though i can't say for sure. looking at the posts here (and having a sense of it when watching the anchor bay one) it becomes obvious that the fantoma transfer is preferred to the newer one.
