Which first feature film was better Jodorowsky's FANDO Y LIS or Lynch's ERASERHEAD?
share"Eraserhead" is better. I was actually thinking about "Eraserhead" while I watched this film. I can't exactly put into words why I like it better, but I think most will agree with me and have the same reason, but probably be able to articulate it better.

Personally I woulden't compare the two. I can see why someone would, and if you want to compare surrealist cinema then they're two good examples.
However, I found the two so completely different, and the work of Lynch and Jodorowsky is also so different, that I really wouldent want to compare.

I can't really see comparing the two but I would go with Fando y Lis. The visuals to me were amazing and I love all the different characters they run into.

Just my three cents worth...
It's close, but I would side with Eraserhead. I can't really find anything I strongly dislike about either of them. Both are truly classics.
sharedefinitely eraserhead. i think lynch worked better with black and white - every shot was beautiful and seemed tailored to this medium. for fando y lis i get the impression jodorowsky was thinking in colour, so i didn't find the film to be so visually stunning. however, el topo is amazing, and i think a lot of its success stems from the colours (e.g the black el topo with umberella against the sand, the red blood against the white rock etc.)

Tough decision. I love both movies. Albeit "Eraserhead" is better technically speaking, the imagery that contains "Fando y Lis" is the winning card to me.
I know, "FYL" it's not among Jodo's best works but still that vampire doctor sucking the blood from Lis or the "lesbian pope" or to see one of my favourite writers (Juan José Arreola), a very refined dude, working in such bizarre movie it's priceless!
Fando y Lis is much better than Eraserhead! Lynch gave us a dark, surreal nightmare of responsibilities, and parenthood.
Jodorowsky gave us a crazy surreal ride of all the feelings that a couple can experience, and it gave us beauty, not just weird and dark pictures.
No offense, I also love Lynch's movies, but Fando y Lis was way more, than Eraserhead, in any course...
