Sandra Dee was good in this role

I liked this movie. I was in the eight grade when it came out and the idea of having three guys after Sandra Dee (gee, if I could only have one guy after me then!)was intriguing. The whole "dancing on the tabletop, are you the one for me?" scene (which I admit I have reenacted a few times in my life!)was eye-opening! Plus, if I had ever gotten pregnant without being married, no one that I knew would ever be as understanding as Celeste Holm (Sandra Dee's mom in the film.)I guess, that's Hollywood for you.I think she should chosen Bill Bixby over George Hamilton! Bixby seemed liked he would be so much more fum.

Do you know who did Sandra Dee's vocals?

reply

I'd be willing to bet she did her own vocals for the film. A different recording of the song "Walk Tall (Like A Man)" was actually a top 10 hit in Chicago in the spring of 1967 (performed by a girl group named 2 of Clubs).

This was probably added after your post was made. The soundtrack page shows that vocals were dubbed by Marie Greene. www.imdb.com/name/nm0338854

Mag, Darling, you're being a bore.

Glad I'm not the only one. Hamilton is okay, but the whole time I was saying, "Choose Bixby!" In the scene where she got a kiss from him, I like that they fooled me by making it seem like she was going to walk out of the house without finding out if there were fireworks or not.

I agree that Sandra Dee was good in this. So glad I happened to see this film in the TCM listings yesterday.
