Wonder when 'Doctor, You'ver Got To Be Kidding?' will be released on DVD

I loved this movie as a young girl. I would love to see it again to see if I remember most of it.

Sandy - Iloved this movie as a young girl, too. I actually think about it every so often and wish I could see it again. I don't exactly remember what impressed me about it so much. Do you?

reply

I was only about 6 when this was made. I think I saw it when I was about 14. Sandra Dee because of the first name always impressed me. She, Debbie Reynolds and Doris Day were all similiar actresses whose works I adored. Susan Hayward was also fantastic as a dramatic actress. They need to release more of these romantic comedies of the 60s and 70s.

I was a young teenager when I first saw it. There was something incredibly sexy to me about it but I don't remember what? Something about her and George Hamilton I think.

reply

Yeah,it was sexy. Sandra Dee and George Hamilton played opposites who were totally in love in this movie. They spend one night together {the night she is supposed to be opening her act in a nightclub-something she has worked for her whole life-( or maybe it was something her mother made her had work for!)get mad at each other and don't see or speak tp each other for 9 months. The fact that she is an unwed mother (shocking in 1967) only adds to the fun1!

I wish some of Sandra's lesser known films were available on DVD also. I'm really getting tired of the excuse that some people think these films are badly made so they won't ever be released. Considering some of the offensive, bland junk that is on DVD that whole theory is a very lame excuse. Sandra's movies are all great - she had a wonderful knack for both comedy and drama, for which she was never given the credit she deserved.

I have been looking for this movie in ANY form for years now. I absolutely loved it! It would be so great to have on DVD. Any idea how to request it to be released on DVD?

reply

I don't know where it can be requested for a DVD release, but I have found that there are copies of the film on VHS and DVD available on Ebay (for the time being, anyway).

OOOOOO- I am so happy to find out that I am not the only woman who looks back fondly on this movie.

Does anyone remember the song from this? It is one of my faves
- 'I Haven't Got Anything Better To Do'- It was redone by Natalie Cole.

I would definitely buy this if it came out on DVD.

And I also agree that Sandra Dee was the voice for many of us. How about a boxed set of everything she ever did.

I think it would be great if Warner Home Video would release the Sandra Dee titles in their library including "Until They Sail" and "The Reluctant Debutante" - both very early in her career; "A Summer Place" - height of her career; and "Doctor You've Got to be Kidding" - near the end of the "movie starring phase" of her career....while she did alot of work at other studios, these examples of her work at MGM and Warner Bros. (which Warner Home Video controls) really represent all phases of her career.

I thought I was alone in my quest to find this movie. I saw it when I was 7 (in 1967!) and though I only saw it the one time, it must've made an impression as I have wanted to watch it for years. Have not been able to find on tv or video, dvd, etc. Maybe we ought to start a "Let's get Doctor, You've Got to be Kidding and let's get it on dvd" club! Let's hope it does make it to dvd.

Did anyone know that there is a book? Check Amazon and you can get the book? I haven't read it myself.

reply

~ I hope it's release on dvd soon. It's such a great sweet & funny movie.

Spring and summer every other day
Blue wind gets so sad
Blowing through the thick corn,
Through the bales of hay,
Through the open books on the grass
Spring and summer.

I, too, enjoyed this movie, as I did all of Sandy's movies and want to know this and other of her films haven't been made to DVD. Will someone answer this?
