Why was this movie banned?

Reading through the lines of this movie's main page you can see

"Certification: Finland:(Banned) (1969-1973)"

Why did they ban Dio perdona...io no! in Finland?

However, this movie rocks, as usual.

reply

I think it was the violent version who was banned in Finland.

reply

If you look around IMDB you'll quickly discover that almost EVERYTHING from the '70s and '80s with even a modicum of violence was banned in Finland. I'm not sure why this is, though.

reply

indeed, some lame asses worked at the institutes that banned movies. i dont know why that is. we live in a democratic country. nobody has the right to bann/censor anything by any reason.

its a free world, i can do what i want as long as i dont hurt/insult anyone else. And did movie didnt anything like that, violence yes. bu further nothing. so fu&ck them.

Is Finland a country full of cowards, like the French?

reply

wuss. 73% of the French military in WWI were killed, maimed or made POWs (that would add up to something like 6 million soldiers as casualties). 60% of ALL Frenchmen between the ages of 18 and 28 were killed or maimed in the war. Hell, in WWII over 400,000 French civilians were killed.

What have you got to compare to that, Freedom Fries?

reply

The Fench are neither cowards or stupid. They were smart enough to NOT get into a war with Iraq. and for the record. "french fries' were made in Belgium first where they SPEAK French. I never DID call them "freedom fries"

reply

""french fries' were made in Belgium first where they SPEAK French."

Most actually speak Flemish (a Dutch dialect) rather than Walloon (a French dialect) but other than that well said.

You need a few commas in your sentences, and "Most actually" does not make sense.
Exclude "most"
Begin sentence with "Actually,..."
"Most" has to do with comparison of 3 or more. Let me guess, ESL? Otherwise, you just might be kinda dumb. Hahaha

Please improve your grammar & proofreading.
French, not Fench

When using "neither", "nor" is to be used as the conjunction, rather than "or."
You have mistakenly used "." (periods) in place of "," (commas).
If the case is ESL, you are not excused, but should not attempt certain things until you know more about the language. Pick one -- double or single -- on the diacritics, in your use of quotes -- "french fries'.

Further note/advice: Your use of CAPITALIZING seems overdone, but is warranted for emphasis; ideally, would be bolded, instead

yeah, it was, censorship sucks, but it's not been banned for years now!! thanks to the new "video law"!

reply

i heard that they banned Donald Duck in finland :D

reply

whats that dumb comment about the french?
the germans are lame, censoring every movie to this day. French DVDs are always uncut.

as far as i know the comedy version came out in 1982. at least that's what my DVD states. i have a double dvd with both versions and they mention all the differences.
it says that in 1982 the movie was cut and redubbed to cash in on of the success of the Hill/Spencer movies. the western version obviously ahs a different storyline and different voice actors. in 1982 they dubbed the movie with the famous Hill/Spencer voices.

So yeah, it is the violent version that was banned since the comedy version only came out in 1982.

did u try checking wikipedia? they do have pages on the movies and sometimes they mention things like that on wikipedia, things like the reception of a movie etc

reply

You know you've made it when you have a film banned in Finland!

Most films were banned in Finland "back in the day".

"Nothings gonna change my world!"

reply

i imagine a person with cliche 70s clothes sitting in a dark room astonished over the violence in the movie, cutting and putting a ban on almost every movie.

"yeeeessssss this will be my legacy" / with silly conan o brien voice

reply

I don't know why it was banned in Finland during that time, but it was banned in Chile during the right-wing military dictatorship (1973-1990) and it seems it didn't got re- rated until 1996.
It seems it was because of the content (violence, rebelious) and the title referencing God (Chile was and still is a very catholic country).

Please excuse my terrible redaction, english is not my native language IMDb = Catch-22
