shareNo, it was 'burnt.' While the expedition is on their way back home, the boss's flunky convinces him that the explorers didn't really find a monster, but probably a lizard of some sort that was burnt in the volcano. It led to my favorite line in the film (in the English version I have, anyway); the explorers get back, and the boss angrily growls that he doesn't need to look at the creature they captured, because "I've seen a burnt lizard!" Makes me wonder what kind of private life he led...

It was NOT burnt lizard. He said bird lizard. I played the recording back slower and it was bird.
