Any Hungarian out there?

I did not understand much of the plot and I believe not many of the non-Hungarians would. Still I enjoyed the fantastic cinematography and the climax created by the director and the impassionate characters. It may be a Hungarian masterpiece but I'm Polish. Still, looking forward to see more universal movies by Miklós Jancsó his style is fascinating.

Any Hungarian out there that could be helpful it figuring out what was it about with poisoning that poor grandpa? Was it just for money? Or was there some deeper political thing into it?

I'm not Hungarian but the way I see it, the two women were in love with the protagonist and, therefore wanted to poison the 'grandpa'.
