I like how Chaplin crossed his trademark comedy with a romance in this movie, so I rank it higher. But I have to agree, there was no big chemistry between Marlon Brando and Sophia Loren as a couple.
EDIT: By the way, why didn't Brando and Loren's charachters slept in the same room in the begging of the movie? Was it just because he was a married man and etiquete was taken way more seriously back in those days, or simply a good? It was clear the suite had 2 separate beds in the same room so I didn't really see why one of them ended up sleeping in the sofa (other than for humouristic reasons, perhaps).

It seems they hated each other in real life so that was perhaps a casting mistake from the start. Although some people can put things behind them and still do a good job...
.
Jarring slapstick with everyone jumping at every single god damned knock on the door! STOP!
The horrible dancing scenes where everyone moves just a bit too fast.
The dress shop has no stock?
The situation was SO contrived: why couldn't they go to the Captain and work out a solution? Apparently having oodles of money means nothing.
And the dialogue! My DOG could write better dialogue! And he has! He wrote the screenplay to "Santa Claus VS the Martians", but I digress.
A total lack of sex appeal on the part of Sophia Loren. Finally near the end they get her out of that sack-cloth wardrobe for about three minutes.
A drawing room comedy set aboard ship with a total dearth of comedy.
It's hard to believe that just 5 years later, Brando made "Godfather".
Brando is plain awful in this (otherwise, also extremely bad) film. Plus, he looks like a fool with his exceptionally bad "I don't want to wear a wig" kind of hairstyle. Agreed, his part is very silly, to begin with. But I can't quite see what Brando was supposed to portray in this role?
The two leads were boring. It was up to some of the support character actors in this movie to maintain my interest.
