Coming to US Blu-ray and DVD in October of 2014
Olive Films will be releasing this film, reportedly on both Blu-ray and DVD, in October of 2014.
shareAnd hopefully, finally unedited. I have both the original VHS of this and an import British DVD from about a decade ago. Both of these had obvious, sudden jump cuts where some brief nudity and violence was edited out (for example one female victim is seen wondering around late at night through the corridors of a house , then suddenly a jump cut and a murderer is then seen standing over her dead body) . I believe these edits were probably made from the original distributor, not from the companies who released the VHS and DVD editions-especially since these jump cuts occurred back on TV prints I caught in the 1970's of the film, plus the fact that the VHS was from an American company and the DVD from a British company and the edits were close to the same.
shareThe BD company had all the footage but not audio for the previously censored bits so they left them out, rendering this yet another frustrating release for fans of the film.
shareOh I hadn't heard that. very interesting. I wish they had included those scenes at least as extras in the new DVD then. I bought this film already 3 times hoping for an uncensored print. Once on VHS long ago, then on a British DVD which had the same exact edited cut as I had seen on TV and on the first American VHS. And now although there are some restored scenes-they aren't really anything that would have been edited for any reason other than to shorten the movies running time (for instance a plane trip taken by one of the characters with scenes of the plane in flight, that type of thing)...So i'm still waiting to see that old edited footage and will end up i'm sure buying a 4th version. If I live that long!!!
I'm wondering how the previous commenter learned of the additional footage and the issue with the missing audio..
