Ooohhh Boy!

I just watched this movie this morning because i wasn't feeling well and this movie always brightens my day because it's so quirky. OK, let me confess...I have a thing for Richard Harris now. He was sooooo adorable in this movie, and he had a really natural way of being funny. He looked really good in all of the fashionable clothes that he wore...oh dang, he was pretty hot! I think he and Doris should have sung a duet!

It's 'fashionable' to "hate" this movie and Richard Harris as being unsuitable to co-star with Doris Day. I agree with you, I thought he was just right for this part. He has said, as Day has also claimed, not to have liked the film. He went on to compliment Doris as "an expert in comedy." And that, "I learned more about comedy from Doris Day than I could have learned in four years at the Royal Academy." What a statement!

But students of film acting will tell you that Day was excellent, under a good director. I always notice how stars use props, how they interact with supporting players and how true they are to their characters. Under really good directors, Day was wonderful, but under careless ones, she could be "overly cutesy."

why did richard not care for this film?

not care a seeming understatement.

I don't know. He was very good in this film and I thought he out-acted Doris. Maybe he thought he was miscast--he did look very young compared to Doris-he was 36 and she was almost 45! And it really showed on film. I really liked him in this movie-he was totally hot!

IMO Please Don't Eat the Daisies (1960) was among her worst films

Doris did not want to do this film AT ALL. In her bio she says "Thank God I don't have to do scripts like this." and her husband says "What do you mean? You're doing it. I signed you to it. Its a good script. Your wrong, Doris" And she reportedly went ballistic. "If you think this is good, God help my investments!"

I liked the movie for the most part. I do think they should have laid off the makeup. The false eyelashes and eye shadow are so hard looking. They make her look older than she is. She clearly was not into this movie. She seems totally disinterested.

I think it's fun, not a great film, but entertaining enough. It's an amusing comedy thriller. what do people expect of it?
