Why didn't Doris Day like this film?

To me it looks like a solid production. The only fault in it is the end where the confront the bad guy who turns out to be a cross dresser. To me that was a ... very strange moment. I can't imagine why they did that. Why couldn't they make the guy a Soviet agent who wanted a new chemical or something? Why would a cross dresser do the things he did? I don't get it to this day. Why not a simple spy story?

I mean otherwise it seem like an okay film. Was it only Doris Day who didn't like it, or did other people have bad experiences with it?

Does anyone know?

I don't know, I think it's a fun comedy thriller, and Day and Harris are both very good in it. I don't know what other people's objections to the film ate, it seems amusing enough to me.

Yeah, you know, I think it's a fine film. It's nothing really ground breaking, but it moves well. The cross dressing villain at the end was kind of weird, but whatever ... I thought dude was just in disguise until Day's line. I wonder if that's what she objected to.

It was either that or the fact that she had already done a spy spoof the year before with "Glass Bottom Boat". And truth be told this film is a little more complete and grittier because it's an actual spy film, and not a rom-com dressed up as a spy spoof.

Oh well. I like it.

I like it as well. As you say, nothing ground breaking, but it certainly entertains. I agree the thing about the cross dressing villain is a little odd though.
