Would anyone else like to see a new TOaFK adaptation?
Let me preface this by saying I'm not slamming Camelot (either the stage or the movie version) one bit. I love musicals in general, and this one in particular--its score is remarkable.
But doing one of my periodic re-readings of The Once And Future King, I can't help but wonder--wouldn't a new, non-musical film adaptation be nice?
(Especially since I think the one existing film version of The Sword In The Stone--the Disney version--could have been done better. Oh, it's all right, but to me--and YMMV--it's a bit blah, and not anywhere near what Disney's capable of. One wonders what it could have been if not made in one of Disney's comparative slump periods.)
I can see them doing it as a trilogy--or maybe a duology. After all, aside from the introduction of Morgause's sons and the conception of Mordred, not all that much happens in The Queen of Air and Darkness. So I can see one whole movie of The Sword In The Stone, and a second one touching slightly on The Queen of Air and Darkness but mainly concerned with The Ill-Made Knight and The Candle In The Wind.
I think that in the right hands (good director, good screenwriters, good actors) it could be excellent. What do you think?
