The Bittersweet Ending

A lot of members have complained about the ending of "The Bobo." Just how DID they expect it to end. She was a high class cortesan, he a boob matador. Yet Juan touched Olympia's heart, the first to do so. There is a slight chance they might get together in later years. In the highly regarded "Roman Holiday," there's NO chance Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn will ever get together, but I don't see any complaints about the ending of THAT movie.

I found the ending quite satisfying myself; Juan beat Olympia at her own game, Olympia found a man she could actually respect, and Juan left the scene with his dignity intact, and a few cheese sandwiches up on the deal. His deceiving Carbonel was a scene of true beauty.

The ending didnt spoil it for me either, ahead of its time in not giving the audience what it expects.

All movie buffs complain when a film has a "Hollywood" ending.

The only time they complain louder, is when a film doesn't.
