Remake?

This movie is stale and old looking. It needs to be updated. It needs a fresh, new look to it with younger actors.

that could be called 10 thngs I hate about you

No, I wasn't talking about a modern version of it. I was talking about Shakespeare. There's a big difference.

It's Shakespeare. A new one comes along every few years. (Although people tend to be more wary of this, Othello, and Merchant of Venice for probably obvious reasons). I have to say, being "old looking" is not a vice.
But yeah, I'm sure there will be more movies of this play. There are certainly plenty of onstage productions of the play (one of which I am currently involved in... :D)

The only thing which really must be updated in any play is the style of acting, the non-verbal grammar if you will. This changes every twenty years or so at least since performances have been recorded. Watch a movie from the 20's, then one from the 40's, then the 60's, then the 80's, and you'll see what I mean. Regardless of the script or the temporal setting, the thing that makes a performance fresh and accessible is that style which almost eludes description.

You must mean like the way they ruined Hamlet and Romeo & Juliet

I nominate Ioan Gruffud as "Petruchio" - I can see him deliver the lines like they were his own!

A new version will probably not be made. Too outdated and sexist.

I agree that this play is too sexist to be remade, and I quite hope it isn't. This was a truly inspired adaptation and it would be very difficult to equal it, regardless of change in acting styles.
