Truly amazing Liz in this

RIP Liz, everyone else is listing Cat on a hot tin roof (great movie), Cleopatra, or A Place in the Sun as things to remember her by. But I recall seeing this in High School and realizing WHAT her appeal was. Wow she was on fire in this movie. Sure it's not classic Shakespeare but a Hollywood version that is so very watchable and entertaining. I hope that many people will (re)discover her in this and add this to a list of things to remember Liz by. Now I've got to hunt down a copy for myself.

Mate, I totally agree with you. Not many people know her in this role, but I gotta say - I'll be rewatching her movies in her honor and I'll be saving this one for the end of my 40 days tribute.

This is my all time favorite of Elizabeth Taylor's roles. I didn't realize it had fallen into such obscurity since her death.

RIP, Liz!

I had the pleasure of watching this film for the very first time this week. In fact, I finished it tonight and can't wait to watch it again. I was riveted to this wonderful film from the beginning. Elizabeth truly is amazing in her role and her radiant beauty is very hard to disguise, even in the guise of a shrew. "Liz and Burton", as they were commonly called in the 60's, were truly the power couple of entertainment.

She had a good stab at Shakespeare in this and it helped that Burton was in it.

Its that man again!!

watched yesterday for the first time However I had heard the reviews which were
comedic reference to her talent about when she was going with burton
she had a lot of charm and gave a memorable account of a talented actress

As good as Elizabeth Taylor was in this Richard Burton totally out-did her! I'd love to see this movie again and have been hunting for it for a while, is it available on DVD at all?

reply

I'm borrowing this on DVD from the local library, so it's definitely available.

Compared to Burton who is in his element, Liz Taylor looks outside of her comfort zone. Still a pleasure to watch and a fine piece of work.

Although I was not entirely fond of the film, Liz Taylor gave a good performance specifically in the early stages of the film showing Kate consumed with jealousy.

She is stunning to look at but this is Richard Burton's film. Zefferelli seemed to be star-struck with getting the Burton's for his film, but I 've always wondered what he really thought of working with this Hollywood diva and her besotted husband.

Agreed...she looks wickedly beautifull.

Perhaps the best out of all her films.

They're both stunning, and both very good, in this. Elizabeth acclimated to Shakespeare very nicely.

This may be their best vehicle together.
