Simply Awful

From his Woody Allen glasses to the irritating music, this truly is a bullion dollar mistake.

It's by far the least of the Harry Palmer theatrical films.

I liked this one as I was never bored and it had lots of fun touches.. until it reaches Texas and then it goes off the rails (though I still had fun watching it).

This over-the-top movie would have been more palatable had it not besmirched the Harry Palmer franchise. (Worked with Abbott and Costello Meets Frankenstein but not here).

However, years later, it's a treat to see a young Michael Caine and such great character actors, Ed Begley, Karl Malden, Oscar Homolka. The pro-Soviet slant of the piece is easier to stomach given that the Soviet Empire collapsed (altho Putin has been trying to put the pieces back together).

I must agree that this movie was terrible, and has only gotten worse with age. The stupid computer runs of Hollerith punch cards, yet it also has voice recognition for input and a synthesized voice for output. The plan to invade using fuel tanker trucks outfitted as troop carriers is also ludicrous. This film was terrible when it was made, and has only gotten worse with time.

After the spy masterpiece that was "Funeral in Berlin," this is mind-bendingly awful! Oh my gosh, what were they thinking? 
