Just watched this Yesterday - Tis on HBO this month

The remake is an insult to this film. My god I laughed and Laughed, and thought why can't we was americans make these kinds of films. The humor is wry, hysterical and spot on. While some of the pacing is a bit off, this is still a very enjoyable romantic comedy, and peter Cooks portray as the Devil is probably the best comedic version I have ever watched in my 37 years on the planet.

Yes I agree. The original was much better. They should have made the remake using the same script and better actors. Then it would have been better instead of pigeon-holing it as a "rom-com".

In the UK this is always on Sky Classics. The remake is not worth watching in my opinion. Peter Cook is great as the Devil. Very cold eyes.....

I remember I saw this on PBS back when they still showed classic movies on Saturday nights. It was about 10 years ago when I was 13, I enjoyed it a lot. I was excited to see they are now showing it on Fox Movie Channel for the past month. I wish I could find it on DVD!
