Favourite Sin

Which was your favourite sin in the film ?

You wanna f * * k with me? Okay. Say hello to my little friend! (Tony Montana)

Lilian Lust!

Although I also rather liked Avarice and Gluttony.

Didn't like Anger, Vanity or Sloth and Envy was ok I suppose.

"favourite sin," or favourite character?

there's a big difference. for this film, though, it's "lust" and "lilian lust...the babe with the bust." :-)
i could hardly imagine a better choice of actress/model icons to play the character and "the sin" than raquel welch (60s and 70s). although, elizabeth hurley (90s) - from the remake of this film - would've been the perfect choice if "bedazzled" had been remade along the exact same narrative lines. fact is, both versions of this film feature a main character (stanley and elliott) 'lusting' after a female character who's played by an actress that is upstaged by the other major female character in the movie...

eleanor bron, by raquel welch; frances o'connor, by elizabeth hurley.

the most surreal scene, though, in either movie has got to be the rendezvous club scene that ends the '67 "bedazzled." dudley moore, as stanley moon, dressed as a nun smoking and drinking on a barstool, while raquel welch, as lilian lust, dances on the bar, and a jazzy band led by peter cook, as george "the devil" spiggot, plays a sax, and the other "sins" do what they do best. pretty funny stuff. and just one of the reasons i don't think the remake of this film makes it to the same level.

Envy - "Lust and gluttony are right next to the bathroom, nothing's too good for them."
Stanley - "Well lust and gluttony would have to be next to the bathroom".

reply

Sloth (everyone needs to be lazy once in a while) and gluttony (everyone has to eat).

reply

Gluttony-I get full just watching all the food going down.

Envy is a good second one.

Hi there,

I am also a (hetero) red-blooded male, and I reckon that Barry Humphries camping it up as the green Envy wins hands down!

I like Avarice, followed by Vanity.

Volker Flenske: (While torturing David) I don't know why you're doing this to yourself!

reply

Vanity. The mirror scene is hilarious.
I do think the sins should have been in the film more.
