I'm sorry Grandma!
This movie was on a double bill with Julie Andrews' "Thoroughly Modern Millie" back when I was 10 years old.
Being gay, I was totally into seeing "Millie." My grandmother took me - when "Millie" was over and "Josie" started, within "Josie"'s first 15 minutes, I complained about the latter. ("Millie" was a musical, "Josey" was/is not - I wanted to leave the theater with only thoughts of the flappers singing and dancing.)
My grandmother - despite her love of Doris - took me out and then we went to lunch.
What a selfish brat I was! I should have let her enjoy both movies (she loved "Millie" because it reminded her of her youth - but she was always ready to watch anything Doris).
Anyway, all these years later - after her passing - I realize what spoiled brats grandchildren can be - and how accommodating grandparents can be.
(Although, via the miracle that is called "IMDB" and the feedback it offers on "Josie," apparently my grandma didn't miss out on much.)
"Don't call me 'honey', mac."
"Don't call me 'mac'... HONEY!"
