I Loved this show!

If only this could be released on DVD! I atleast wish it was shown on TV LAND! I never missed this when it first came on in the 60`s I was crushed when it was canceled. It was played in the mornings for awhile, in the 80`s on USA.

I just saw Monte Markham narrating a History Channel show and decided to check up on him on this site. I too have fond memories of this show and was surprised it was aired in '67-'68. I was thinking it was early to mid '70s. There probably aren't enough episodes to warrent tv land or it could be tied up legally. The best bet would probably be dvd. Another show I liked from the same period was "Whackiest Ship In The Army" which aired for one season on Sunday nights after Bonanza. Ever hear the story about Jerry VanDyke turning down Gilligan for "My Mother The Car"?

Yes, I did hear that story about Jerry VanDyke. I found that funny. I also wonder, in hind sight, if he had many regrets over it. All in all, he had a great run as Luther on COACH!LOL! Good things come to those who wait...or, in the VanDyke tradition, maybe he stumbled into it!
As for THE SECOND HUNDRED YEARS, you`re right.Sadly, there would`nt be enough episodes for it to run on TV Land. Too bad though, that they could`nt devote maybe a Sunday, even once a month, to some of those short lived TV shows.
I pcked up an old TV movie of the week at a Dollar store a week ago.GINGER IN THE MORNING. 1973. It stars Sissy Spacec and Monty Markham. No cienmatic masterpiece, but FUN!!!

Back when TV Land was still a classics tv channel, they would air an hour block of "one year wonder" shows- like My Mother The Car. Sadly TV Land has become another 'crap' channel which will soon be nothing but reality shows.

I collect dead pigeons then I press them between the pages of a book.

Does anyone have any episodes of SECOND HUNDRED YEARS for trade?

I too was crushed when I found out it was cancelled. That 1966-1968 years of TV were quite exciting for a kid and The Second Hundred Years was one of those shows that kept my imagination running wild.

Why oh why can't they come up with shows that followed through on characters instead of gratuitous sex, profanity and of course, complete lack of fathers in the childrens lives.

Sorry, didn't mean to get heavy there but shows in those days were to transport us to fantasyland type themes. Now, it seems that art imitates life and there's and endless supply of stupidity.

Shows like TSHY brought the entire family in front of the TV

1966 to 1968- "The times, they are a changing....."

2007- The times have changed.... BOY, how they`ve changed!

I feel a bit crazy at times, with the way the advances in technology have accelerated. I don`t always understand how it all works, but I go with it and in many cases, even enjoy it. For instance, when we were kids, did we ever, in our wildest imagination, think that we would have computers in our homes? Would we ever have believed that we could communicate with complete strangers, as you and I are doing right now? We have so much information at our fingertips. We can all comunicate with each other now days by typing messages and just pressing a SEND button! (It`s been a while since I wrote a letter, and sent it by mail) People no longer have to wait any longer, to get home or find the nearest phone booth, to make a call. People cary phones with them. There are so many entertainment choices too! We can buy or rent movies to watch in our own homes. We can record television shows, to watch later, when/IF we find the time. We no longer just have THREE channels to choose from anymore. We have hundreds, and in many cases, there are nights when we still can`t find anything that`s interesting.
I don`t know if it`s because we have too many choices, or because we`ve seen too much. I do think at times, that people have run out of original ideas. It`s all reflected in the way we live, and in the movies and TV shows we see now.

Having said all of that,(WHEW!)I have to wonder what "Luke Carpenter" would think if he`d been frozen in 1968, and was thawed out today! LOL!
