Indeed, but nowhere near an answer to this question since Mr. Peepers was 12-14 years before. I remember two prime time super hero comedies that season and Wally Cox being in the other one. There is nothing listed at IMDB to go with that memory. Subsequent research discovers:

The Hero which had a short run in 1966 featuring Richard Mulligan. I do not remember seeing it at all.

Captain Nice This is the one I falsely remembered as featuring Wally Cox. The title character was played by William Daniels.

So there were three of these shows between 1966-1967 and apparently none in prime time featuring Wally Cox, who was doing the voice of the Saturday cartoon show Underdog around this time.

Maybe that also answers the question for the original post.
