I *Hate* This Line Every Time I Hear It...

...and at approx. 14:00, it has already been delivered twice.

What line is that, you might ask? Well, I'll tell you. It's a reference to one's wedding day (especially for the bride) as "...the happiest day of [your] life."

Horse manure. That's essentially saying, "Better enjoy your wedding day. It's all downhill afterward."

I will have been married for 22 years as of November, 2016. I've had many, many better days than my wedding day since then. For one thing, my mother lives 500 miles away, so I don't have to listen to her snottiness about my friends, clothing, or anything. Heck, she hated the mere idea of the cake I selected. "Why can't you just have a 'normal' cake, like everyone else?" And don't get me started about her "concerns" about our gay friends. (Everyone loved the cake, largely because it was different, and delicious to boot.)

A note to the young women who might read this: I never married until I was 38. I waited and waited, then I waited a bit longer. Smartest thing I ever did in my entire life. Never allow yourself to feel desperate to marry. Guys can smell it. Just *be friends* with guys. Any "love" which doesn't include friendship ain't love. It's just plain old sexual attraction. Oh, yeah, that's very pleasant, but it is not a basis for a long-term, committed relationship. Period.

Wow!

What are you even talking about?

And why are you posting this on The Mothers-in-Law page?

Yikes!

Gee. I thought I was fairly clear. I guess I wasn't. I'll try again.

By the time I had watched fourteen minutes of this first episode of The Mothers-in-law, the words, "[One's] wedding day is the most wonderful day of [one's] life." This is not an exact quote. It is a paraphrase.

The reason this line (or variations of it) affects me like fingernails on a blackboard are given above. I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure these reasons are clear enough.

Oh, and I checked out a few of your previous posts.

I'm pretty sure I see a pattern there.

Naturally, I haven't read all your posts.

You seem to be interested in very few shows and movies.

You do, however, seem to post frequently.

I thought you might benefit from a tiny suggestion.

A paragraph is generally more than one sentence long.

Sometimes, one sentence is enough to convey a complete idea.

It can, however, be distracting to readers when it happens twice or more in one post.

Thanks.

The reason that your first post was not clear is because you never mentioned anything about any episodes, from this show or from any other show.

You just mentioned something vague about "at the 14 minute mark" or some such.

So, the reader might assume that you were referring to this show (as you posted on this show's board).

But the reader had no idea what episode you were referring to. (Your second post made that clear, but only after I had questioned it.)

Thanks for the suggestions about paragraph structure.
