Never locked his car doors?
Some times a good guy would sneak in the back seat and give him valuable information; some times he would get hit in the head.

A lot fo people back then didn;t lock their
car doors or even () the front doors of their home.
When crime seriously got out of hand a few years later, they locked them.
My beef with Mannix and his car is that he almost never checks for a
bomb. The bad guys do it several times but still, he just gets in and starts it up.
I'd only have to have that happen once to wake me up & check it everytime.
(>.more likely after that one time...I'd quit being a P.I.)
