To Kill A Writer episode, Season 1

Patti Chandler who plays the part of the daughter, Julie...Her voice sounds so strange. Bad lip-syncing?

That's pretty funny. I'm watching it now and I was thinking the same thing. I've seen that done in some older TV shows so I came here to check to see if they did it there.

Thanks for responding, Farm. I really couldn't concentrate on the show for the bad dubbing, lol. Lovely girl, but I kept thinking that her voice must be REALLY awful if they thought this finished product sounded better.

This show was very much B4 “my time” BUT I’ve 2 admit I rather enjoy Mannix; so much so, I purchased the newest “Mannix: The Complete Series (Complete Seasons #1-8 released May 2017)* from Amazon!!” Now to the REPLY:

I too was rather puzzled by the [EXTREMELY] obvious voice dub over they used on Patti Chandler’s voice. My first assumption was, perhaps, she was from another country & maybe her accent was cause 4 the dub (although she readily appears 2 be a “typical California girl” (I was born in L.A. & grew up there; birth thru middle school; returning frequently 2 C family & l8tr on business frequently, family, & friends). Sure enough, citing IMDB, QUOTE:
“Patti Chandler was born on December 8, 1943 in Culver City, California, USA.”

Strike 1!

Batting again…2nd Swing:
As “MurphyG…” says above, I NEXT had to find out if her voice was so bad, that they chose to dub over her voice.

Well, I found on YT a “trailer” - of sorts (often, really old movies, rather than an official trailer, they just use 1 or 2 clips from, usu, just 1 scene 4 a “trailer”). This trailer was 4 some silly “beach movie” which is what I found & even I’m keenly aware such movies were “a dime a dozen” throughout the 1960s…I’d be curious 2 know how many of those they cranked out during that decade; they’re certainly wishing no shortage of them! @ any rate, I actually found 1 that predates this 1968 episode of Mannix by only 2 yrs & Patty Chandler is speaking & she has an absolutely…”normal voice”; it wasn’t annoying or anything out of the usual; certainly not as hideous as - I think the actresses name is Fran Drescher from a show I’ve never really watched but have seen a few clips called “The Nanny”…her whining whiny & horrifically irritating voice makes 1 wonder WHY she wasn’t dubbed! I digress…

2 that end - B4 I swing again & “strikeout,” this being IMDB, SURELY some PRO can solve this oddity &, seemingly, pointless dub 4 Patti, PLEASE, “DO TELL…4 ALL of US!” Thnx!
