Anyone else think the Chief, Ed, Mark and Eve were like a family?

The main reason I love this series so much is because of the bond between the four main characters.

As time goes on, they become a surrogate family. You believe they are good friends and enjoy being with each other. I love the Chief's friendship with Mark and Eve the most, with these two he could always tell(more than with Ed I think)when something was bothering them.

I think the main actors did a fantastic job of conveying how much these characters meant to each other.

They had great chemistry together-In the episode Five Days in The Death of Sgt. Brown-a doctor calls The Chief a surrogate father.
It's funny in real life Don Galloway and Raymond Burr were good friends-but on the show The Chief was always hardest on Ed so his gentler side never came out with him as much-

Glad I'm not alone in thinking this. The Chief and Ed seem to get on well to me,but are not as close as Ironside is with Eve and Mark. I think perhaps Ed thought he had more to prove so he kept a bit of distance.

I agree with you 100%! I love the chemistry between all four of the original characters. I honestly think I watch the show more for the character interactions and chemistry between the main cast than for any of the crime-solving stories, although those are pretty great too! Love this show so much!

You aren't alone LoveClassics-A noted Television critic wrote this-The late TV Guide critic Cleveland Amory wrote: Maybe every episode of "Ironside" isn't the best episode of "Ironside", but we watch it anyway because we love spending time with the Chief, Ed, Eve and Mark.

Glad I'm not alone. As much as I love the stories, I mainly watch this for the scenes between these four characters. The actors do such a good job of making us believe the bond between their characters.
