The High Chaparral would have been even better as a 90-minute long show?

The Virginian & Cimmaron Strip were 90-minute long westerns.

No. I never liked the 90 minute shows (Wagon Train went 90 minutes for a while, too) because they seemed to be too long for the stories they carried. The writers just padded the 60 minute version.

I think it was just fine in it's hour format.
When I was a kid, I would have loved it to go on forever! LOL!

Not for me, I actually prefer the 30 minute Gunsmoke episodes to the 60 minute format they went to in later years.
