Ha! those lines are hilarious!
If they were to do a movie called "Gentle Ben -- Midlife Crisis" with Clint Howard as the divorced and disgruntled former park ranger (lost his job d/t budget cuts) and Ben (who, like Lassie, should be as perennial as the grass) I would totally watch it.
He could still pretty much stick to the same three lines.
You could even re-use the theme song to 'Ben' by Michael Jackson.
