Is it at all possible for PBS to reair this miniseries in America? I am DYING to see it...

I don't know about the BBC airing this again in the USA, but you can purchase the DVDs (used and new) through Amazon (which is where I purchased mine) or some other vendor. It is a splendid production -- far, far superior to the dreadfully insipid remake.
I'm looking for a loop that discusses the original version. Anyone know of one?
