Joe Friday's Shorthand?

I'm not sure if I really saw this or not, but on some episodes of Dragnet, Friday is seen writing something down. Sometimes it shows what he wrote and it doesn't look like anything, just scribbles. That's what shorthand is supposed to look like. This was on the regular TV showings, not the DVDs. Did anyone else see it, too, or was I just imagining things?

I was just reading something about Leave it to Beaver. On one episode, (it didn't say which one) it shows that Ward Cleaver received a letter from Beaver's teacher, Mrs. Rayburn. On the regular TV showings, it shows the letter for only a few seconds, but if you watch it on dvd-r or dvd, pause the picture or look up the phrase, "Leave it to Beaver: Secret Contents of Ward Cleaver's Letter Revealed!" It's pretty funny!
