This was actually the first episode of the "new" Dragnet (Jan. 12, 1967). I guess it was Jack Webb's way of saying "This isn't your father's Dragnet."

Burns later appeared again in a 1969 episode as Harold Ruskin. The boy who blew a guys head off and stole a car. I thinks it's funny how Jack Webb re-used the same actors over and over again like Virginia Gregg, Jill Banner, Kevin Coughlin, Mickey Sholdar, Peggy Webber, Susan Seaforth-Hayes etc...
