D.N.A.Y.S- 1st or 2nd series?

are the episodes on the dvd from the 1st or 2nd series? because some people say they're from the 1st series while others say they're from both.

reply

They're from the first series which was made and broadcast by Redifussion. A Christmas special and second series was made by Thames TV when they took over the London area franchise. The big shame is that beyond what's on the dvd only the Christmas special and a single episode from series two appears to have survived.

There is a Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band bootleg LP called LOOSE CABOOSE that contains the following songs, all claiming to be taken from D.N.A.Y.S.:

-Hello Mabel
-Da Story Of Da Bonzo Itself
-Ready-Mades
-Canyons Of Your Mind
-I'm the Urban Spaceman

Of these, only "Hello Mabel" has turned up on the DVD set. "Urban Spaceman" dates from 1969. Any hope on the rest of the second series showing up? Any plan on them releasing the Xmas special?

It mentioned somewhere that they'd found audio recordings of various old shows, including D.N.A.Y.S so maybe some of those are from the second series.

Oh crap. I came here to see if someone had the answer to this question. I wish nobody had !

The reviews and Wikipedia all said that this DVD gathered all the material that had survived, when I knew for a fact that it wasn't true since I do have that Xmas special and that episode from series 2 on a bootleg tape. So I kept on hoping that someone, somewhere had the rest and that it would be released later, with a little luck during my lifetime. Heh, we've been waiting for that DVD for 37 years.

The number of treasures that have been erased by the BBC to save tapes boggles the mind. I think that it was just too merciful of Monty Python to compare their brains to the penguins'.

You can't blame the BBC for that one. It was an ITV show
