I remember Peter Kastner from "Nobody Waved Good-bye," a Canadian film about adolescent angst which pre-dates "the Graduate" and was supposed to make Kastner a star like Dustin Hoffman. Instead, he was cast as the cross-dressing hero of the short-lived ABC sitcom "the Ugliest Girl in Town" -- which wasn't as funny as "Bosom Buddies" would be, so he did not become a star like Tom Hanks. Later I saw Kastner in the televised production of "Steambath" on PBS, but most of us were distracted by Valerie Perrine's nude scene. Also saw him briefly on the sitcom version of "Animal House" in which he inherited Donald Sutherland's role as Professor Jennings. He seemed to be having fun in the 1980s when he and journalist/Playmate Vicki McCarty anchored an infotainment news show on the Playboy Channel.
Kastner's another example of a talented actor who managed to get a few guest appearances or supporting roles on TV but never became a big star. He moved back to Canada after the 2004 U.S. elections, and he has uploaded some videos to Youtube. Glad to see that he's still performing somewhere.

He died in 2008 - pacemaker gave out. I was surprised to read on IMDB that he was also a victim of mother/son incest. Watching You're a Big Boy Now is kind of creepy after learning that! I always thought the Barbara character was messed up from childhood sex abuse too.
That's about the ultimate selfish act a human being can commit, in my opinion.
That makes me wonder if Bernard is messed up from the same thing? Or, is he a result of emotional and physical abuse?
shareHis mom is controlling and his dad ignores him. Everyone is telling him how to behave, and maybe low self esteem. I don't know about physical abuse, but he appears emotionally underdeveloped.
If we can save humanity, we become the caretakers of the world
