Wheres the DVD????

This movie is hilarious. And I know not many people have seen it, but I know if it was out on DVD and was able to reach anew generation of film lovers it would catch on. So wheres the love?

reply

Hear, hear. It's way past time.

I agree! This film has one of the funniest Peter Sellers cameos I have EVER seent! I don't want to describe the scene because it would be ruined for all who might want to view it. Suffice to say that the character is an obsessive cat lover.

If it's not available on DVD someday soon, it should be transferred by anyone who buys the VHS. Worthy of keeping for the future.

reply

transfering the tape is a possibility, but They should do a restored DVD release, with extra features. Columbia pictures obviously does not know the value of this film. Dudley Moore made a film the following year called "30 is a dangerous age Cynthia" (1967) also a humorus film. Columbia released it on VHS years ago, but there has been no DVD release. Maybe someone at Columbia will read this, and release this films.

reply

Yes, and I'd like a commentary track, too - hopefully they'll release it on dvd before any more of the cast members die. It would have been great to hear Dudley Moore and Peter Cook do a commentary on this movie, and unfortunately they both died before their time.

I'll have a bourbon and tomato juice.

One of the joys of Imdb is discovering people of like mind. I know no one NO ONE who even remembers this movie but here I discover people who like myself regard it as one of the funniest movies ever made. I have a VHS copy (off TV) but I would prize a DVD. Out of curiosity what movies were funnier - Some Like it Hot (maybe); Christmas Story (probably; Something About Mary (I laughed but the humor shall we say lacked subtelty. Any response?

reply

Some like it Hot (1959) is very funny. It can be viewed many times. I own a DVD copy. Hound of the Baskervilles (1978) with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore is also very funny, and NOW on DVD from MGM. Cook and Moore are hillarious in THE WRONG BOX. Someone once told me that they never saw Michael Caine act so funny as Michael Finsbury. Robert Louis Stevensons short book is sort of different than the film, but they are pretty close in story. These talented stars that appear in the film; (caine, Mills, Cook, Moore, Sellers, Richardson, And Nanette Newman) make it worthy of a DVD release.

Anyway have any updated information?

reply

One of my all time favorites. Hope it will be released very soon on DVD.

reply

Add my vote to release this on DVD. If the film's owner doesn't want to do the work, maybe the Criterion Collection people would be interested.

reply

The DVD, region free, can be ordered from the Video House. It is at [email protected]. I just ordered it on Friday, January 8th. This is one of my all time favorite movies.

Thanks for the info.
I've never seen this comedy, just stumbled upon these pages!
Which made me very curious about this film.
