Asians are Space Aliens?

Did anyone else find it strange/racist that the movie was basically saying that East Asian people came from outer space?

reply

No. The racism card is the last resort of the indefatigably touchy or the first resource of nit-picking liberals.

I found it amusing rather than racist. I figure that the writers of the movie decided to put a little twist on the "Adam and Eve" SF cliche.

What I did find strange was that both Tang and Linda both appeared to be Asian, even though each one was half Caucasian. Usually, biracial people have characteristics from both races. Either the casting director couldn't find any or they just didn't care.

I think it was just an inexpensive way to depict an alien race, as opposed to putting makeup and prosthetics on their foreheads.

The women were all gorgeous, even thirty(forty?)something Merry Anders looked good in her tight space suit. The girls make bearable a somewhat boring and overly earnest flick.

SPOILERS ETC!

To be nitpicky, the Asians weren't actually aliens; the Caucasians were. Since Tang and Linda are supposed to be an Adam and Eve sort of couple populating a prehistoric planet Earth, they were actually the first Earthlings, while the Caucasians that were flying around were the alien visitors.
In other words, if anything, it was racist towards Caucasians. I mean, it wasn't really, but if you wanted to make a case for racism, it would have to be that way.

Friggin' awesome movie! All the gals are smokin' hot, and everything else is as wonderfully cheesy as it gets. Too many memorable moments to list here. Released the same year as Star Trek on tv, the comparisons are obvious. Some of the actors actually appeared in Star Trek episodes.

Since caucasian cave men already populated the planet, Linda and Tang would be the Adam and Eve for the Asian race on Earth. I always liked that concept.
