Should they remake this film?

In the midst of the "age of remakes" Hollywood is currently going through, I was was just wondering how you kids would react to a semi-big-budget remake of 'The Wild World of Batwoman'.

Personally, I don't find this film that offensive. I've seen the uncut version several times, and I consider campy fun. CAMPY FUN!!! Yet I was thinking...would a remake be that bad? What do you think?

How would it be? Should it keep it's 60s-ish camp, or should it have a modern update? Should it have good, name actors, or untalented no-names to keep that cheesiness? Should it be written a little bit better to tie up all the loose ends, or should it be left just as confusing as it was when it came out?

Is it a classic landmark in film history that should be left alone in it's infamous legacy of bad camp? Or should it be sprung upon a new generation of filmgoers?

reply

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
You are probably insane.

This film is "retarded", not campy fun.

The ONLY way to watch it is in the form of Mystery Science Theatre 3000.
Even they could barely stand it.

Only if Mystery Science Theater 3000 was still around to make fun of it, too.

Remakes tend to stink, and the fact is that Batwoman is amusing to watch because it's such junk and the people onscreen seem to take it so seriously. I can't imagine how they could remake it and keep that.

reply

Since the plot and everything else in the movie was stupid, what would there be to remake?

Let it be.

I'd like to see a graphic novel based on this film that brings the lesbian undertones to the surface and has some graphic violence. How do you have girls in bikinis with an arsenal of guns dancing in a drug induced haze and not have one gun accidentally go off?!? COME ON!!! That scene should've been a bloodbath!!!

I can't help but think that the Halle Berry film 'Catwoman' is the closest we'll get to a modern-day 'Wild World of Batwoman' film.

Why would anyone want to remake this? DC Comics would probably go after them.

reply

Wow, you're right...what was I thinking?

I still think it's an incredible film. It's just so campy and both intentionally and unintentionally hilarious...I don't care what your government says.

I'm just wondering how they'd do the infamous "soup" sequence, where you had all of the batgirls, armed with firearms, guarding the vault at Ayjax when suddenly out of nowhere this strange waiter swoops in with a trayful of soup and every girl in the place just grabs a cup of soup and swallows it down without a word.

If Nazis came from evolutionists, why are there still evolutionists?

reply

Let's just say DC Comics were to purchase the rights and remake it. This could work as a serious, dark "BATWOMAN" movie. But a lot would need to be changed to the point it's more a loose remake, or a reboot.

Aitch-5, what the hell does your signature even mean?

Heh. I've been spending most of my time here on IMDb on the board for Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, and occasionally arguing with the creationists who post there. One of the arguments that creationists use, in their never-ending quest to prove the theory of evolution ridiculous, is "If humans came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?" -- as if natural selection affected EVERY member of a species equally all the time (it doesn't, of course). Then along comes this movie Expelled that implies rather strongly (and falsely) that belief in the theory of evolution is part of what led to the Nazi movement in Germany -- in a sense, that Nazis came from evolutionists. So my signature is one of the lines that we sometimes use when making fun of the faulty logic of the creationists.

And there you have it.

If Nazis came from evolutionists, why are there still evolutionists?

reply

Ah, now it makes more sense. Yeah, Expelled is one of those things I'm purposely staying away from because I know it would infuriate and disgust me to no end.
