Who is giving this movie a 10?!

This movie and any other movie that appears on Mystery Science Theater 3000 are on this pictular show for a reason. They're just plain horrible!! And yet, someones giving them a 10, WTF?! These movies don't deserve a 10, and this pictular movie deserves to be on the list of the worst 100 movies, and yet, its not.

People, people, the newer movies that are coming out in theaters are nothing compared to the tripe that is shown on MST3K, and if you ever watch them, I think that you'll see that.

If you go to the message board for the film, Night Train to Mundo Fine, there are posts discussing how people are voting "10" for these horrid old films in the futile hope of propelling newer films that offended them to the 'top' (worst) of the IMDb Bottom 100.

Some users suspect they want to keep You Got Served at #1, and get some revenge on more familar stinkers like From Justin to Kelly, Boat Trip, Gigli, and Battlefield Earth "higher" rankings as punishment for getting their money and/or wasting their time.

Either that or they enjoyed MST3K's comments on a film so much they are projecting quality onto it, but more likely the former.

reply

Yep, I posted there as well, its digusting why these people are giving the horrible movies ratings that they don't deserve. I'm pretty sure that people enjoy the MST3Ked movies, but then they should give MST3K itself the rating, not the terrible movies.

I bet anything that it is what you say, these people just want to push these other bad movies the ratings and areas that they don't deserve.

There are also some very die hard Manos fans who can't stand to see any other movie than Manos as number one. There are some older posts on the Manos board where they call for all Manos fans to give every other movie a 10 so that Manos can stay #1. They probably clone themselves (create other IMDB accounts so they can vote more than once). Pretty sad bunch.

reply

This movie was soo much better than the Godfather and the Shawshank Redemption combined.

reply

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! What? You're serious? Oh..... Doctor!!!!!

reply

Manos is absolutely number 1!

reply

Anyone who has seen these movies knows that Troll 2 is the only film deserving the top spot. Nothing else even comes close.

reply

I beg to differ. While TROLL 2 is an abysmal movie - and it is that and more - I still feel that there are other films that are as bad, or even worse. To date I have not seen anything worse than THE BEAST OF YUCCA FLATS. At least TROLL 2 has a lame ass plot. BEAST has no plot at all that I can discern. I would even rank BEAST below RED ZONE CUBA, another Francis Coleman film (and to call it a film is the greatest of compliments.)

Question everything

reply

Troll 2 is like the mainstream blockbuster of z movies. I wish they never made that documentary about it. Now it's true badness is skewed and lost forever. #Nilbog

(Dumb-asses childish "mother" comment aside.)
THE worst movie? God knows, its in the running. It's certainly high in the "WTF" factor. A supposed super-hero lives in what looks like the California suburbs! WTF? Our "heros" hide and watch a guy get shot to death! WTF? We hold a seance, but can only commune with a Chinese person? WTF? (And I agree with Joel here: "We'd just like to apologize to everybody everywhere..") And on it goes...

But can this movie out-stupid "The Creeping Terror" or "The Side-hackers?" Can it be more boring and piss-poorly put together than "Manos" or "The Skydivers" Is it just plain a bigger mess than "Monster A-Go-Go" or "The Beast of Yucca Flats?"

Certainly all noble efforts, and worthy of "honorable mention." But I'm sorry, MY vote still belongs to "Night of Horror."

reply

Sorry to correct, I tend not to do that, but this one was a Mike movie, and I might be mistaken, heh, but he goes "To every asian, and every human being, I apologize for this scene." Can't say I blame him either, that scene was just terrible.

And about the Creeping Terror, yeah, thats pretty bad, same with Manos, as for the others, I can't say since I haven't seen them (D'oh!), but of course, I'd like to, just to see how bad they are compared to this.

While movies like Manos, Plan 9 and Wild World of Batwoman are awful films, they do have some entertainment value. Despite their flaws, they are fun to watch because of the inadvertant humor.

When I take that into consideration, I have to consider Howard the Duck as the worst movie of all time. There is a reason why it is never showed on cable TV channels that show crummy old movies. While it isn't as technically flawed as some of the other movies considered in the "worst of all time" category, there is no redeeming quality in Howard the Duck. There isn't any accidental humor. It is just a boring, unwatchable film that fails on every level. Even Joel/Mike and the Bots in their prime would struggle to make Howard the Duck a movie that anyone could sit through.

reply

When I was very young (like 7 or 8) I used to like Howard the Duck. So obviously SOMEBODY'S enjoying it.

Anyway, now I read the Howard the Duck comics and feel that the film should be wiped clean from the memory of all mankind for ruining the good name of the superb comics it's supposed to be based on. And from the little I can remember of the HTD film it's not near as bad as Wild Wild World of Batwoman or Plan 9.

reply

Howard The Duck was goofy, but it doesn't belong on the list of worst. It had elements that could keep an audience (special effects, action, drama, etc).

Movies like the Wild World Of Batwoman, Red Zone Cuba, Beast Of Yucca Flats, and pretty much any other movie from the 60s that MST3K riffed during it's run belongs near the very bottom of any movie list (unless you're rating the MST3K versions). I'd also include Hobgoblins and Angel's Revenge on this list.

The reason Mike & the Bots didn't riff Howard The Duck is because there's not too much to make fun of that the movie itself doesn't make fun of already. I don't think Howard The Duck took itself as being incredibly serious, so that kept it kind of passable to watch. Its not the best movie, but you could do a lot worse.

reply

i'd give the MST3K version an 8/10.

reply

Um, Ashki, what the hell does "pictular" mean? :)

You would make your point much more effectively if you learned how to spell "particular."
