This is a remake.

So this was done once before, it had Jean Arthur, Joel MacCrea, and Charles Coburn. It was made in the 1940's, and it was about the housing shortage during the War. I had watched some of it, and fell asleep, so I didn't get to see the rest of it. I assume the Arthur, and MacCrea Characters get together at the end just like this Movie. I'd like to see it again when it comes on but, can't remember the name of the earlier Movie.

It's called "The More the Merrier", and it has a touch of sadness to it, because of the war theme. The plots of the two movies are very similar.

The two movies together make for a very fun double feature for the weekend! :-)

Lots of eye candy, too....Jim Hutton and Joel McCrea.

The sexiest actor ever and the second sexiest actor ever.

Can't go wrong with that!

I'll have to agree about Joel McCrea. He's woefully underrated.

reply

Couldn't agree more! Have you seen him in Foreign Correspondent? A very good Hitchcock film that doesn't seem to me gets as much credit as it ought and Joel McCrea is great in it!

reply

No, but I saw Him in "The Palm Beach Story" very funny.

reply

Oh yes! I saw that for the first time a couple of months ago and loved it! Not only Joel McCrea but also Claudette Colbert who I really like, she's always so much fun in movies!

I have only seen him in SULLIVAN'S TRAVELS. He's really good looking and charismatic. I'm surprised he's not a 1st tier star. I mean, certainly he made a ton of movies and was a top star of his time, but it's not like a lot of the films he was in come immediately to mind today.

I wonder if he turned down some key roles that would have cemented his stature.

Yes that's it, Thank You. I'll have to record the Movie when it comes on again.

reply

Did you get to record it? It was on last night, but I turned it on about half way through and didn't know what I was watching, lol. Then I remembered the title of this thread from when I was on this board a week or two ago and realized I was watching the same story as Walk, Don't Run, so thank you for this thread :)
