Power walking?!?

Was that really a race in the Tokyo olympics or was that just for the movie? I have to admit that Cary Grant power walking makes for a funny picture.

Yes it was and is an Olympic sport. Check out race walking at Wikipedia to learn all about it. I thought Cary Grant was wonderful in this part and made everything funny. It was sad he gave up acting after this part as he would have been wonderful as the secondary male character for many years to come.

lol some people are so funny. of course it's an olympic sport. my family's been doing it for like 55 years now. it's my favourite sport of all time, you don't quite realise how fast they can go until you actually see them in the skin. my older brother was national champ for like 10 years until he quit last year. i had my try at it and my dad and brother still do it!!!! LUVVITTTTTTTT

I remember from a few Olympics ago that there are referees hidden in the crowd. You have to "Walk". If they catch you sprinting they will disqualify you.

I love to walk but thirty miles is a bit long.

It's not funny. If baseball isn't in the Olympics then ridiculous things like walking shouldn't be in the Olympics either. The film makes fun of it because it's a stupid event. Why do you think Steve didn't want to admit the sport he was competing in????

The people you idolize wouldn't like you.

Secondary? Don't sell the debonair hunk too short! I know he didn't see it. Didn't like it in Charade. But just like Charade I think he would've found himself chased by younger women in movies-just as he was in real life! I think he had some more leading man years in him. Not every movie, but don't exclude him completely.
