Reccomendations

Does anybody know any other films with quirky dark humor such as this and blood feast? People always ask me what kind of movies I like and it's hard to answer, I like a good mix between horror and comedy, without it being an actual "Horror Comedy"... Good examples of this are The Undertaker And His Pals, Blood Feast, Silent Night Deadly Night, Basket Case, even a lot of john waters stuff.

I just love the morbidity, violence, and blood, mixed with innocent "classic", kind of abbot and costello-ey at times, quirky, type humor. So good.

yeah, i know what u mean. these movies were not made to be taken really seriously. just good bloody FUN! ok, try "MOTEL HELL" (really good), "PIECES" (weird), and u probably already saw "BRIDE OF CHUCKY". i have lots of these types of movies. i find them at dollar stores, walmart & ebay. i just seem to have gone BLANK right now.

Herschell Gordon Lewis' intentional black comedy was "The Gruesome Twosome" from 1967... the one with the wig makers scalping people to make wigs.

There was another he made that can also qualify as a comedy called "The Gore-Gore Girls" from 1972. That has the Vietnam vet drawing faces on watermelons and smashing them in the bar and this detective who says of murder victims whose faces are mutilated that "she appears to have lost face".

My recommendations are:

The Brain That Wouldn't Die - this is a must-see movie, schlocky horror with a little sleaze thrown in for good measure. Watch out for that thing in the closet!

A Bucket Of Blood - it's a minor Classic...Roger Corman's satiric jab at beatnik culture in the early '60s.

Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things - this is a weird, offbeat zombie movie.

The Corpse Grinders - in a similar vein as "Undertaker", a broke cat food co. resorts to using fresh, ground corpses, which then turns kitties into bloodthirsty killers.

The Little Shop Of Horrors - NOT the musical remake but Roger Corman's original.

Two Thousand Maniacs - a small Southern town has some horrifying surprises in store for their guests from the North.

"That mans' nuts!!! Grab 'em!"
