I'm so glad Disney made a movie about dachshunds. You barly ever see stuff about
dachshund. I have 2 dachshunds, both black and tan, one longhaired and one shorthaired. Their names are Frankie (longhaired) and Lucy (shorthaired).

I watched this movie growing up and now I have 4 dachshunds!!! I made my husband watch it the other day and he loved it as well. It is a cute little story and a very fun loving family film. I will always enjoy it and hope my childrem do as well.

I have the best dachshund in the world! His name is Drexl and he is a lover, never away from me. When my girlfriend and I try to cuddle up he always gets between us, but its not like you can be mad at something so cute.

reply

sorry, but I have the best dachshund!!! His name is Sabby, and like yours he is never away from me and gets in between myself and my wife so she can't put her arm around me. It's like he's saying that I belong to him and no one else. Of course, he is right! We never own our dogs, they own us!

I have had every variety! All rescues. I think the wirehaireds are the best, the longhaired boys the mushiest. I once had 3 at once and 1 greyhounds. The two best breeds in the world: doxies and greys!

Ditto here - I have three, all from Rescue - one red shorthair, one red longhair, and one black and tan short. They are WONDERFUL!!!!!

I have two-one minature red named Heidi, and a black dachshund named Rascal.

I miss the days when there was only one party I didn’t want to go to.

My son and I watched this last night, and we loved it! We watched it with our red smoothie Sadie! I have had dachshunds all my life, and now I think I have indoctrinated my son as well!

The movie was so fun and light - what I especially noticed was how well dressed the characters are! Geez, how standards have dropped since the 60's....

I have loved this movie since I first saw it in the 60's. I had to find it on VHS in the 80's when I came home from work to find my own two dachsunds had gotten into my yarn. It was all over the place just as in the movies. Around furniture, over furniture, through the legs of the tables, everywhere. I wish I had a movie of them playing with the yarn. It certainly looked like they must have had a great time at it.

I'm watching it with my family right now. We have 3 Dachshunds and a Malteese!!!

The character of Fran is just like my mother to a tee!!!

This movie combines my two favorite things in the world! Dachshunds and the sixties! I have had doxies my whole life. I had two brother boys growing up, both black and tan short hair, named Ferris and Hot Dog. I named Ferris after my favorite movie at the time, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. My brother named his doxie Hot Dog for obvious reasons.

I got my first apartment and as a house warming gift my bf at the time got me a black and tan short hair boy dachshund! Well he took me to go pick one out and I was so surprised to see how many puppies there were from ONE litter! I was there forever trying to choose and I loved these two ones SO much. I finally picked one and a week later had to go back and the other one! I called to pray they still had him, turns out he was the last one! IT WAS FATE! I named our first one Snoop, since he got into everything just like the dogs in this movie, and the second one Lil Jon after the Robin Hood character.

Then 3 months later I had to get a little girl so this time I got a short hair red dachshund! She picked me, though! When I walked into the breeder's house she came right up to me and sat on my feet like 'I've been waiting for you! Take me to my palace!' so I named her Diva.

I still have Snoop, but unfortunately not the other two. They were stolen from me :( It was two years ago and I still talk about them almost every day like I still have them. I miss them terribly. They were my family and I get sad watching this movie because all the little dachshunds remind me of my Diva.

I pity you harborers of these dogs. My grandparents had one. His name was Prince. When I was a baby, the dog was very jealous of the attention my grandmother and mother gave me. He would bite my toes under the table while I was in the highchair.

They're supposed to be very stubborn. I remember reading about an owner who characterized his as disobeying him even when he was ordering the dog to do something it wanted to do. So I'm thinking about getting one for my GF as a replacement for her Chihuahuas when they pass. She always talks about how stubborn she was as a child and frequently locked horns with her mother. So I'm thinking a Dachshund is the perfect pet for her. That way I can sit back and watch them try and out-stubborn each other. See who ends up training whom. ;-)
