This is a fair movie.

I admit it has been many years since I saw it and I thought then that it was a fair movie and had propaganda in it. It is worth seeing if you are a big Audie Murphy or George Sanders fan or if you have nothing better to do.

I just watched it and I am a big Audie fan but I was embarrassed for him and I can only hope that he had a good time making it. He said that it was a low budget production where the actors had to do their own stunts. I would imagine that he did enjoy that.

You were kind. Net3431 in July 2011 panned it. I noticed IMDB doesn't even give the U.S. title, Trunk in Cairo. It wasn't completely bad. As you stated, if you're an Audie Murphy or George Sanders fan (George here) you SHOULD watch it to see how bad things got for them. Definitely not anywhere near their best. The only Murphy film I enjoyed was Shane. If this Cairo piece had been my debut to Murphy or Sanders, I probably wouldn't watch any of their other movies.

Alan Ladd starred in Shane, not Audie Murphy. They were both in a lot of Westerns and were short in stature, so it's understandable to confuse them. Ladd was in some other pretty good movies, such as This Gun for Hire, The Blue Dahlia and The Glass Key, so maybe you should give those a try if you haven't yet seen them. Audie's best include The Red Badge of Courage, No Name on the Bullet, Ride Clear of Diablo, and Night Passage.
