when I'm a man I'll find these lyrics . . .

Hi all,

Used to sing this to my daughters at bedtime, making up lyrics on the fly. Now oldest girl is getting married and thought this song would be a nice dad-bride waltze song. The BBC London Marathon version is great but any other versions out there? Ones with lyrics, Ollie singing it (with the hilarious Canadien accent, eh)?

As I remember it, it goes "When I'm a man, I'll take me a wife;
We'll live in a house on the hill, the hill;
With carriage and horses all white, all white;
And she shall have diamonds and pearls, and pearls;
And she shall have diamonds and pearls."

Thanks for getting me to remember this fine movie. I may purchase in when it comes out on DVD, though I have it on tape... somewhere.

Where can you get the song though that IS the question. :P

I bought the soundtrack CD from Amazon.de but the song was not on it.

I always thought the third line was "And live by the river, so wide so wide;"

I don't suppose you have any other information about the song?

Thanks.

And I remembered the third line was...
"With roses all red and fences all white"

Perhaps we all remember different verses. I only remember the one.

"The Trap" was the feature film on a UHF station in Philadelphia PA back in the late 60's. It aired 10 times and I watched 8 of them. To this day when I canoe (which is often), I sing the song.
