Was this movie referenced in Tarantino's Kill Bill??

Some of the theme music in this movie reminded me of that used in Kill Bill, most likely Volume 1 since it took place in Japan. Was it really referenced from this movie or did it just sound the same? Also did he take more than just the music? Were any of the scenes or themes of this movie paid homage to in Kill Bill?

Oh & I just like to thank Turner Classic Movies for playing for playing little gems like this in the middle of the night. They gave me my first taste of Japanese cinema (besides Godzilla) by playing The Black Lizard & Tokyo Drifter is just as enjoyable.
