Stella Stevens

Also in this film is a scene with Stella in a garterbelt & nylons. Very sexy!

I recently bought this movie and Stella really had me in stitches.
She was so funny in it. Esp. the scene where she gets out of the 'sexwagon' to escape lol.

How do you do it?
Make me feel like I do?
How do you do it?
It's better than I ever knew.

You are Stella
You are Stella
STELLA!

She was great in 'The Silencers'. She was so drop dead adorable in that scene where she's almost executed. She was funny when she gets drunk and tells Matt Helm, "I know what you're trying to do. You wanna see how far you can get on a full tank!" She was so sexy when she's in a bathing suit and she splashes Matt Helm with pool water!

She also knew how to play drunk, whch not every actor can pull off.

I remember catching her in some minor movie (possibly a tv production) in the 80's, and she still had plenty of sizzle.

She was definitely the best female lead in this series.

No doubt she's a gorgeous lady but the klutzy girl stuff wore a little thin for me after 15 minutes of it - I really didn't think we needed a redo of Lucille Ball, after all the clumsy redhead was pretty much her shtick...

LOVE Stella in this movie!!! Her and Dean have such great chemistry together, and the final scene where they get dumped into the bubble bath is one of my all time favorites. I also love the scene by the pool when she first meets Dean and spills the bloody Mary on him. How cool was the bar on wheels with the guy playing the keyboard? Ah, the sixties. The most fab decade ever, and Stella is the BEST!!!

Billy, I noticed the same thing - Stella sounded just like Elizabeth Montgomery.

Rickeybobby ---- You know your right. She did . Folksy, almost southern like. I'm from the south so I know . Hanging on to a word when emphatic, and drawing it out longer. Not to be mistaken for the definition of the term drawl. Good observation.

best stella stephens movie--she was peaking-she never looked so good-a lot of austin powers material was used from this movie

I can't believe nobody's mentioned the other 2 gorgeous women in this film - Daliah Lavi and Nancy Kovack! I found both of them to be sexier and more exotic looking than Stella, even though Stella is very attractive too without a doubt.

reply

It's like I've been saying some girls have that alluring gaze that reaches out of the screen and grabs you and says " I'm sexy enough where all I have to do is look at the camera and you'll love me..... And it happens. Some women have that. Dalahi and Nancy had that. As pretty as Stella Stevens was she did not. Sorry! Elke Sommer was red hot sexy and I was crazy about her back in the day..... but she really didn't have it either. It's hard to describe. It's the X factor. I know it when I see it and so do you!

reply

Thats funny, cause I think the opposite.

That Elke and Stella have the X Factor, while Daliah and Nancy do not.

Let's keep the Stevens thread going, with her best scenes from "The Silencers". Too many to choose from: at the pool, being "searched" in the hotel room, getting drunk, falling in the mud, etc.

I'm still going to go with her scenes involving the reversible gun. She didn't have to be rescued by Helm (although it was his weapon), and she figured out everything else, and took care of a couple guards, all by herself.

Those scenes were very well done.

reply

In the Sam Gunther death scene I like the way Gail retrieves the gun, inquisitively inspects it, then turns away and leaves the room without any concern for her former boyfriend.

reply

Also, in the Big O headquarters shootout ( I'm changing the script here ) it would have been good to see Tina fall victim to Gail with the reversible gun...just like Sam Gunther and those two guards .

reply

In the scene where Gail was being "searched" in the hotel room it appears that some of it was cut from the original showing....why ?

reply

That's omitting a funny line from Stella, after Helm implies that her bra is coming off next. "You won't find anything in there. Well, nothing the government is interested in."

reply

Yes, for the most part she's very attractive in this movie. However... In the drunk scene in the car there's a shot where Stevens is on the left and she and Martin are sitting with their foreheads touching, or almost so. She seems to be wearing very pale pancake makeup (much lighter than, say, her arms), along with dark eyeshadow, eyeliner, and lipstick. Seeing her in that getup, especially when she was juxtaposed with Martin and his darker complexion, I couldn't help thinking of Cesar Romero's appearance as the Joker in the 'Batman' TV series. It kind of neutralized the sexiness for a few minutes.
