Anybody able to order this via Netflix. I just joined netflix and The Sand Pebbles shows up on their database, but it's status is listed as unknown. I was able to put in a temporary type of bin. I'm just wondering if I'll ever get to view the dvd thru them. Anybody ever able to view this classic movie thru netflix?

I am also a member and was very disappointed to find the movie unavailable.Netflix has said that when they put it on the list,it all depends on how many request they get from the members as to whether or not it will be available.After two years of waiting, I gave up and bought it on ebay.

I noticed blockbuster acts like it was never released, Walmart too. Here we have a Steve McQueen film, shot in 70mm by the guy who just finished The Sound Of Music, nominated for 8 Academy Awards and there isn't a copy in South Carolina.
Oh, I know, we are at "war" so our troops have to win and in this film the Chinese repel the American Imperialists. The more things change the more they stay the same...
Sand Pebbles was shot in 35mm and blown up to 70mm.
