Gunboat/Sand Pebbles related books

Does anyone know of any good books that cover the history of the Yangtze gunboats, their designs, service life, etc? I am shocked that Osprey Publishing does not have a New Vanguard series book on this yet.

I read a book a few years back called "Left-Handed Monkey Wrench" by McKenna, who also wrote "The Sand Pebbles".

A very good book about the real US gunboats on the Yangtze River is "YANGTZE PATROL" by Kemp Tolley. It can be purchased in hardcover or softcover and it has many good photos.I just checked Amazon.com and they have it in both versions. The Feb.2000 issue of the "NAVAL HISTORY" magazine has a very good article about the US gunboats. The magazine is put out by the U.S.Naval Institute. There is also a book about the USS Panay and that I think has plans of the Panay in it.Ebay has books at this time about the British gunboats used on the river.I hope this helps.
